By Horace Palacio: Belize is under the influence of a cold front today resulting in mostly cloudy skies, cooler temperatures, and scattered showers. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts isolated showers or light rain developing throughout the day, with slightly more rainfall expected offshore and along the southern coast. The weather marks a shift from recent fair conditions to cooler and windier patterns.

Marine conditions are notably affected, with north-northwest winds blowing at 10-20 knots and occasional gusts. The sea state is choppy to rough, with wave heights ranging from 3 to 7 feet. A small craft caution has been issued, and operators of smaller vessels are advised to navigate with care due to gusty winds and locally rough seas.

Temperatures will remain cooler than average across the country. Coastal areas are expected to reach highs of 78°F (26°C) during the day, dropping to 68°F (20°C) at night. Inland regions will see daytime highs of 80°F (27°C) and nighttime lows of 64°F (18°C). In the hills, temperatures will be significantly cooler, with highs of 68°F (20°C) and lows of 61°F (16°C).

The outlook for Thursday and Thursday night suggests variably cloudy skies with continued windy and cool conditions. A few showers or periods of rain will persist, primarily offshore and along some coastal areas, as the cold front maintains its influence over the region.

Tidal activity includes a low tide at 9:33 AM, a high tide at 3:41 PM, and another low tide at 11:52 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is forecast at 5:57 AM. Sunrise was at 6:26 AM, and sunset will occur at 5:42 PM. The moon will set at 11:54 AM and rise again at 1:12 AM tomorrow.

Forecaster Crystal Rosalez advises residents to prepare for cooler, windier weather, particularly in coastal and southern areas. Those planning maritime activities should exercise caution due to rough seas and gusty winds, while inland conditions remain mild but cooler.
