By Horace Palacio: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST) has hosted a first-of-its-kind meeting with the Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) and Managing Authorities of schools across the country, aiming to enhance collaboration and improve Belize’s education system.
Chaired by Minister of Education Francis Fonseca, the meeting brought together representatives from key agencies, including the Social Security Board, Belize Tax Services, and the Treasury Department. The stakeholders engaged in constructive discussions to address pressing challenges and find innovative solutions for the education sector.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a joint statement by the MoECST, BNTU, and Managing Authorities, reaffirming their shared commitment to sustained collaboration and effective communication. The joint statement emphasized creating an education system that meets the needs of students, teachers, parents, and administrators while supporting Belize’s national development goals.
“This marks a significant step forward for education in Belize,” said Minister Fonseca. “We are determined to ensure equitable access to quality education and provide the tools necessary for the growth and participation of every Belizean in our country’s future.”
The MoECST, BNTU, and school Managing Authorities pledged to continue meaningful dialogue and initiatives aimed at addressing systemic challenges and promoting innovation in education.
