By Breaking Belize News Staff: Elvira Virginia Grant Mulholland, 44, a Santa Elena resident accused of attempting to kill her common-law husband, Jeffrey Mulholland, is out on bail after spending nearly three months on remand. The High Court granted her bail of $20,000 late Thursday evening, with stringent conditions set by Justice Derick Sylvester.

Mulholland faces four charges stemming from an alleged shooting incident on October 25, 2024, along the Coastal Plain Road. The charges include attempted murder, harm, use of deadly means of harm, and robbery. According to police, the couple had a heated argument that escalated when Jeffrey Mulholland attempted to leave in his pickup truck. Elvira Mulholland allegedly pursued him, ran him off the road, and shot him with his own Glock 9mm firearm during a confrontation.

Justice Sylvester granted bail with conditions, including reporting to the San Ignacio Police Station five days a week, surrendering her travel documents, avoiding contact with her husband or witnesses, and staying away from his residence and place of employment. Any violation of these terms could result in the revocation of her bail.

Mulholland is scheduled to appear in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on January 31, 2025, as the case continues.
