By Horace Palacio: Belize is transitioning to less moist conditions today according to the Belize Meteorological Service. The day will feature variably cloudy skies, with isolated showers or light rain expected, particularly along coastal areas in the south. While most regions will experience minimal rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas are dominating the marine forecast.

Winds will blow from the north-northeast at 15-25 knots, with gusts creating challenging conditions at sea. The sea state is classified as rough, with wave heights ranging from 7 to 9 feet. A small craft warning is in effect, and operators of small vessels are strongly advised to remain in a safe harbor until conditions improve.

Temperatures today will be mild. Coastal areas will see highs of 77°F (25°C) and lows of 70°F (21°C). Inland regions will experience daytime highs of 78°F (26°C) and nighttime lows of 66°F (19°C). In the hills, temperatures will range from 63°F (17°C) during the day to a cooler 59°F (15°C) at night.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Sunday night, skies are expected to remain cloudy at times, with isolated showers or light rain continuing. However, shower activity is forecast to increase along coastal areas Sunday night, marking a potential shift back to wetter conditions.

The tidal schedule for today includes a high tide at 8:19 AM, a low tide at 12:19 PM, and another high tide at 6:41 PM. Tomorrow’s early low tide is forecast at 2:42 AM. Sunrise was at 6:25 AM, and sunset will be at 5:44 PM. The moon will set at 2:09 PM and rise again at 3:59 AM tomorrow.

Forecaster Tareek Matthews advises residents and visitors to prepare for windy and rough conditions, particularly near the coast. Those engaging in marine activities are urged to heed the small craft warning and prioritize safety. Inland areas can enjoy the cooler, dry weather, with only minimal chances of rain.
