By Horace Palacio: Police officers at the Mahogany Street Substation swiftly responded to a potentially dangerous situation, successfully disarming and subduing a mentally ill man who was armed and acting aggressively. Officers managed to bring the situation under control without using lethal force, ensuring the safety of both the individual and the public.

Authorities have not released full details on the weapon involved, but eyewitnesses say officers acted calmly and professionally to de-escalate the situation. Residents have praised the police response while calling for better mental health support to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The man is now in police custody, and officials say they will work with health professionals to ensure he receives the necessary care.
