High Court to elevate Attorney General and three female attorneys-at-law to Senior Counsel

By Aaron Humes: Later this month, Chief Justice Louise Esther Blenman has declared a Special Sitting of the High Court to honour the elevation of a trio of distinguished Attorneys-at-Law to the esteemed status of Senior Counsel. Also to be elevated is Attorney General, Anthony Sylvestre.

Under the authority granted by section 12 of the Legal Profession Act, Chapter 320 of the Laws of Belize Revised, Chief Justice Blenman, in consultation with the General Legal Council, has recognized the notable contributions of Melissa Balderamos-Mahler, Ashanti Arthurs Martin and Priscilla Banner and agreed to elevate their status to Senior Counsel. The elevation ceremony is set to take place on February 27, at 10:00 AM in the Main Court Room of the Treasury Building.

The elevation to Senior Counsel is a prestigious recognition within the legal profession, reflecting the attorneys’ commitment, skill, and ethical standards, underscoring the importance of professionalism and excellence within the legal framework of Belize.
