National Drug Abuse Control Council, UNICEF and Yale University conduct stakeholders’ meeting on substance use

By Zoila Palma: On February 12, 2025, the National Drug Abuse Control Council-MOHW in partnership with UNICEF Belize and Yale University conducted a national stakeholders’ meeting on substance use focused on adolescents, children, women and families.

An overview and current landscape on substance misuse in Belize was presented by the Director of NDACC, Esner Vellos followed by several discussion segments to help identify prevention, treatment and integration strategies going forward through collaboration.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to all stakeholders that contributed to developing effective plans and programs to address substance misuse in these target populations.
