By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at Hot Summers, a local business on Burns Avenue, San Ignacio Town on Wednesday night. The incident was reported around 8:48 PM when police received a call about a robbery in progress.
The 51-year-old owner of the establishment reported that two males entered the store shortly after 8:40 PM. One suspect, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a blue long-sleeve sweater with a hoodie and rag covering his face, brandished a firearm. The second suspect, around 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing a grey long-sleeve sweater with a similar disguise, began collecting cash from the registers.
The armed suspect ordered him and his wife to the ground while the accomplice filled a blue cloth bag with money. The duo managed to escape with approximately $800 before fleeing the scene.
Police quickly responded to the crime scene, reviewing video surveillance footage that showed the suspects arriving on foot from Waight Street and making their getaway down Wyatt Street. Despite an extensive patrol of the area, officers were unable to locate the suspects.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspects to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
