By Ruben Morales Iglesias: Corozal Community College (CCC) celebrated a resounding victory on Saturday, securing third place in the National Secondary School Sports Association (NSSSA) Girls Football Championship with a dominant 7-0 win over Pallotti High School at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
Northern Zone MVP Christel Tzul was unstoppable, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 3rd, 10th, and 37th minutes. Johana Basto added two more, netting in the 14th and 20th minutes, while Calisha Gilharry scored in the 8th, and Carissa Herrera sealed the victory with a goal in the 39th minute.
CCC’s squad established dominance early, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes, four in the first 15, and five in the first 20 minutes of the first half. Pallotti High School’s defense could not withstand CCC’s relentless offense.
Pallotti had lost 2-0 to SCA in the semifinal, while Corozal Community College fell 4-0 to Georgetown Technical.
In the end, the NSSSA championship was claimed by Georgetown Technical High School, who defeated Sacred Heart College 1-0.
