By Horace Palacio: The Belize Coast Guard is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they rescued approximately 17 miles south of Belize City, near Blue Field Range. The man was discovered alone and adrift at sea on a small makeshift float. He was reportedly unable to provide his name, identification, or address to rescuers.

Images shared by the Coast Guard show the man seated calmly with a bucket and a bag on what appears to be a floating buoy or platform. It remains unclear how long he had been at sea or how he ended up in that location. Medical personnel assessed his condition upon rescue and transported him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for further care.

Authorities have not disclosed any details about his physical condition or mental state, but they are urging anyone who may recognize the individual to come forward. The situation has raised questions and concern on social media, where people are speculating about whether the man may be a fisherman lost at sea or someone displaced by other unknown circumstances.

The Coast Guard continues to monitor his condition and says they hope someone will step forward soon to help reunite him with loved ones.
