Belize Tourism Board hosts “She Leads, We celebrate: Women of Tourism in Belize”

By Zoila Palma: Today, the Belize Tourism Board hosted the She Leads, We Celebrate: Women of Tourism in Belize Networking Event at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza commemorating International Women’s History Month.

This event highlighted a month-long campaign honoring strong, resilient women in Belize’s tourism industry.

The BTB’s campaign featured 25 outstanding women who were publicly nominated across various sectors, including hospitality, tour operations, cultural preservation, culinary arts, and more.

The event commenced with welcome remarks by Michelle Bowers-Flowers, Director of Marketing and Communications, BTB. Nicole Usher-Solano, CEO of the Ministry of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Diaspora Relations, spoke on Women Who Lead: Shaping Tourism’s Future.

Lucy Fleming, a pioneer in Belize’s tourism landscape and co-founder/co-owner of The Lodge at Chaa Creek, delivered the keynote address. She shared insights on leadership, resilience, and innovation.

An engaging and thought-provoking panel discussion followed, featuring three dynamic women in tourism: Timotea Mesh (Founder of San Antonio Women’s Cooperative), Megs Yearwood (Owner of Barefoot Services), and Rebecca Rath (General Manager of Pelican Beach Resort).

The event concluded with the Cheers to Her Happy Hour Cocktail sponsored by MADISCO.

The cocktail allowed attendees to forge connections and pave the way for future partnerships.

The elegant furnishings, courtesy of Courts, created a welcoming ambiance for discussions and celebrations.
