By Horace Palacio: Christopher Coye has officially taken the oath of office as Belize’s newest senator. The swearing-in ceremony took place earlier today before Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam at Belize House in Belmopan, following the recommendation of Prime Minister John Briceño.

Coye’s return to the Senate marks a reaffirmation of his role within the government, as he also assumes duties as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. He has previously served in key financial roles under the Briceño administration, known for his work on economic reform and budgetary oversight.

With this appointment, the government reinforces its commitment to financial stability and strategic economic planning, placing a seasoned financial professional back into the legislative spotlight.

The swearing-in comes at a time when the government is navigating major public investment projects and fiscal policies aimed at long-term growth. Coye is expected to contribute to these efforts from both the legislative and executive fronts.
