By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise conducted a site visit to the El Mameyal Coconut Farm in the Orange Walk District.
The farm, spanning over 500 acres, is home to 45,000 coconut plants and utilizes advanced micro-dispersal irrigation technology.
In addition, the farm is powered by solar energy to run its irrigation pumps, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
Looking ahead, the farm has plans to expand its operations and begin exporting coconuts to Mexico in the coming years, further strengthening Belize’s agricultural sector.
