By Horace Palacio: The Ministry of Health & Wellness has issued a public warning about dietary supplements circulating in Belize that may pose serious health risks.
The products—Artri King, Artribion, Artri Ajo King, and Vitafér-L—have been flagged by international regulatory agencies including the FDA, Mexico’s COFEPRIS, and Spain’s AEMPS. Officals have confirmed that these items are being distributed in Cayo, Orange Walk, Stann Creek, and Belize Districts.
Investigations reveal the supplements contain undeclared substances potentially harmful to consumers. As a result, the Ministry is advising the public to avoid purchasing these or similar products, especially from unregulated sources such as street vendors or social media.
The Ministry stresses the importance of buying health products only from licensed pharmacies and authorized distributors, and encourages anyone who encounters these products to report them to the Drug Alert Unit at [email protected] or by calling 501-880-2363.
