By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) standings after Week Three show a fierce battle at the top, with Sagitun GIRLZ FC leading Jewel Fury FC on goal difference.

The Sagi GIRLZ and Fury are tied on 7 points each, but the southerners currently hold the edge with a +11 goal difference, having scored 13 goals and conceding only 2. Meanwhile, Jewel Fury follow closely with a +9 goal difference, netting 12 goals while allowing 3.

The latest matches saw Sagitun GIRLZ secure a 2-0 victory over Napoles FC, while reigning champions Jewel Fury ran over Cayo Dreamers FC with a 7-0 win. However, Jewel Fury later posted on social media that their actual winning margin was 8-0, despite the Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) official match report recording a 7-0 scoreline. Though no formal protest was filed, a Fury insider asserted that the referee miscounted the final tally.

Meanwhile, Napoles FC sit in third place with 3 points, having won one match and lost two, with a -3 goal difference. Cayo Dreamers FC remain at the bottom, still searching for their first points, with a goal difference of -17, having conceded 19 goals while scoring just 2.

With the competition heating up, champs Jewel Fury and subchamps Sagitun GIRLZ appear to be running away from Napoles and Dreamers.
