By Aaron Humes: This morning, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) police in Belmopan acted on an anonymous tip indicating potential plans by some students to smuggle weapons onto the Belmopan Comprehensive School (BCS) campus in retaliation for an incident on Wednesday.
Police visited the school and thoroughly searched classrooms and surrounding areas. Fortunately, no weapons were found during the investigation.
The school, in a statement reaffirming its commitment to student safety, said today’s events were prompted after an altercation involving two students occurred on Wednesday. The incident, which prompted an immediate response from the community policing unit, was swiftly managed, allowing classes to resume without further disruption.
“Compre” officials in the statement assured parents that regular classes will proceed as normal and encouraged open conversations between parents and their children regarding issues of bullying, violence, and the serious consequences of making threats, which are criminal offenses.
