Teenager taxi driver charged with rape following incident in Caye Caulker

By Aaron Humes: A girl, whose age has not been disclosed, was socializing at Bella’s Backpackers on Crocodile Street when she alleged she was raped, police report.

Police located and arrested Salvador Choc, a Belizean taxi driver from Silver Creek village, Toledo District. He has been charged with the crime of “Rape of a Child.”

The girl was approached by an 18-year-old man of Kekchi descent, who invited her for a drink. After consuming the beverage, she began to feel dizzy. The suspect then reportedly lured the girl to the beachside, in front of the Tree Top Hotel, where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

After reporting the matter to police, doctors conducted a medical examination, which confirmed multiple hymenal tears indicative of sexual assault.
