Public brawl in Digi Park leaves woman hospitalized; police charge another

By Aaron Humes: A Friday night gathering turned violent when a public brawl broke out at New Town Barracks among a group of women, resulting in serious injuries to one individual and charges for another.

According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander of the Eastern Division, the altercation involved several women who had previously been socializing at the club “Thirsty Thursdays: “… thereafter, they left from that location, which is where they got into the argument that led to the stabbing,” said Romero.

Chelsey Lewis, a 24-year-old resident, sustained multiple stab wounds during the incident and was immediately transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment. She is currently in stable condition, and no other serious injuries were reported.

26-year-old Erynne Belezaire has been arrested and charged with dangerous harm and the use of deadly means of harm. While other individuals were detained for questioning, Belezaire is the only one facing charges related to the stabbing.

When asked about the nature of the argument that sparked the conflict, ACP Romero remarked, “We are not sure what they were arguing about.” He also confirmed that the weapon used in the attack was a knife that Belezaire had in her possession.
