By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC) has officially joined forces with the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) in all districts to strengthen the “Arrive Safely! Arrive Alive!” campaign for Easter 2025. As the holiday season unfolds, NDACC is taking proactive measures to alert drivers and travelers about the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of road safety.
On Thursday, NDACC Toledo District Office reaffirmed their commitment to this initiative by collaborating with key stakeholders, including the Belize Police Department, Health Education and Community Participation Bureau-HECOPAB, MOHW, MOHW Community Health Workers – Toledo, and the Community Police Unit, Toledo District Health Services. Together, these groups conducted Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID) and traffic safety checkpoints across the district.
The other NDACC district offices, such as Corozal, Orange Walk, Stann Creek, and Cayo, have done likewise.
The goal of this joint effort is to raise awareness about the serious risks associated with impaired driving, ensuring that every journey ends in safety. Through educational outreach and direct intervention, NDACC and MOHW strive to protect travelers, reduce accidents, and promote responsible driving habits.
“This joint initiative aims to raise awareness about the serious risks of impaired driving and promote safer roads for all. Together, we are making a difference—one safe driver at a time,” the National Drug Abuse Control Council -MOHW said.
“Let’s keep our communities protected this Easter season: Arrive Safely, Arrive Alive!”
