By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, in close partnership with Nohol Agrosciences of Mexico, conducted a two-day training workshop in animal nutrition at the Yo Creek Agriculture Station
The purpose of the training was to capacitate livestock farmers, extension officers of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Belize Livestock Producers Association technical officers in making corn silage commonly used as an animal feed supplement in times of prolonged drought.
The training also included a field visit to a model cattle farm in Trinidad Village to demonstrate appropriate pasture establishment, pasture rotation, pasture management, electric fencing, stocking density, and pasture adaptability under different climatic conditions.
A total of 87 livestock farmers benefited from the training.
