Fire destroys residence in Ladyville

By Aaron Humes: A fire destroyed the residence of a resident of Mile 16, Philip Goldson Highway in the Ladyville area on Thursday night.

Police were called to the scene around 8 p.m. when a 16 by 23-foot wooden structured, elevated six feet from the ground, was seen engulfed in flames. Ladyville fire personnel put out the fire but it destroyed the entire building and its contents.

A neighbour of the home owner, one Darnell Gideon, saw smoke coming from the house and then discovered the fire and called police. Gideon was not at home at the time.

The house and its contents were not insured and the value of the house and its contents is not known at this time. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and investigations are underway.
