Foul play not suspected in death of 75-year-old retiree in Gardenia village

By Aaron Humes: Foul play is not presently suspected in the sudden death of a retiree from Gardenia Village, Belize District, but a post-mortem examination will help determine what happened to 75-year-old George Dawson on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to Mile 21 ½ Philip Goldson Highway whereupon they found Dawson’s body nude in the front portion of a cement bungalow house. There were no physical injuries observed and a relative indicated that Dawson had no medical history, was not on any medication, and had last seen a doctor in 2016 to have his right foot amputated due to an infection.

Dawson was formally pronounced dead around 5:30 at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and the examination has been scheduled.
