International News: Trump walks back claim to end Ukraine war on day 1, calls it ‘Exaggeration’

By Zoila Palma: In a new Time magazine interview marking his first 100 days in office, President Donald Trump admitted that his repeated campaign pledge to end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours was an “exaggeration.”

“I said that figuratively… to make a point,” Trump clarified, acknowledging the complex nature of the conflict.

He also cast doubt on Ukraine’s ability to reclaim Crimea and questioned its NATO aspirations, saying those ambitions may have provoked Russia, NBC reports.

The interview also touched on trade with China, Trump’s sweeping new tariffs, and his lack of involvement in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia—a Maryland man deported to El Salvador despite a Supreme Court ruling. Trump dismissed the matter, saying, “I leave that to my lawyers.”

Pressed on the idea of a third presidential term, Trump claimed he hasn’t explored it but hinted there are “well known” loopholes—though he added, “I don’t believe in using them.”
