Gales Point villager killed after pig attack

By Horace Palacio: A fatal incident in Gales Point Manatee has left the small community in mourning.

Today, Anthony Andrewin was attacked by a pig that had broken out of its pen and wandered into his yard. Eyewitness reports say Andrewin tried to chase the animal away, but the pig became aggressive and bit him in the leg, causing a severe wound.

Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, Andrewin died from blood loss before reaching medical help.

Village Chairman Jason Altschaft confirmed the growing concerns over loose domestic pigs in the area, describing the situation as both “tragic” and preventable. He remembered Andrewin as a hardworking, well-respected member of the community.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to this devastating event.
