By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise is participating in a regional workshop focused on improving the procurement of agricultural inputs across Central America.
Gregorio Canto, from the Ministry’s Policy Unit, is representing Belize at the two-day workshop being held at the Spanish Cooperation Training Center (CFCE) in La Antigua, Guatemala.
The event brings together officials from the Central American Agricultural Council (SE-CAC), the COMISCA Executive Secretariat (SE-COMISCA), and member ministries of agriculture.
Participants are working to define administrative and legal requirements, including terms of reference and evaluation criteria, to guide future joint procurement under the COMISCA® Joint Negotiation Mechanism.
The initiative aims to boost efficiency, transparency, and regional food security through coordinated purchasing strategies.
This workshop marks a key step in advancing regional collaboration and ensuring reliable access to essential agricultural supplies.
