Belmopan Mayor explore Sister-City partnership with Playa del Carmen

By Zoila Palma:  Belmopan Mayor Pablo Cawich, Deputy Mayor Coretta Banner, Councilors Radin Santos and Christopher Enriquez, along with a small delegation, recently completed an official visit to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, aimed at strengthening international municipal ties.

Hosted by Municipal President Angy Estefanía Mercado Asencio, the visit explored the potential for a formal sister-city partnership between Belmopan and Playa del Carmen.

Discussions centered on collaboration in urban planning, traffic management through smart technologies, and the promotion of local artisanal markets.

The exchange marks a significant step toward building innovative, sustainable solutions to support Belmopan’s growth and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
