By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Greg Lovell of Team Lovell took home the top prize in the annual Weekend Warriors Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday morning. Lovell completed the grueling 63-mile race in two hours and 50 minutes.
The race, which began at the 63 Miles Junction in Blackman Eddy heading to Belize City via the George Price Highway, the John Smith Bypass, and the Philip Goldson Highway before concluding at San Cas Plaza. Lovell’s victory not only earned him the title but also a $1,000 prize and a trophy.
Following closely behind in the A Category, Sam Vallecillo of Team Santino’s claimed second place, earning a $500 prize and a trophy, while Darien Anderson of Bundle of Joy Club rounded out the podium in third place, receiving a $300 prize and a trophy.
The race also saw fierce competition in the B and C Categories. Roque Matus of Team M&M Engineering secured first place in the B Category, winning a $500 prize, while Kenneth Butler, competing unattached, took the top spot in the C Category, earning a $400 prize.
In the Women’s category, Gabrielle Lovell of Team Lovel emerged victorious.
