By Zoila Palma: In continued collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Toledo Department of Agriculture successfully launched a major poultry distribution initiative across rural Toledo.
Throughout the month of April, 4,617 chicks were delivered to 532 women in 21 villages, with the aim of improving household nutrition particularly by increasing access to protein and strengthening food security within the rural communities.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that this initiative, set to conclude with a final delivery in mid-May, is more than just a distribution program. It empowers women through sustainable farming practices, enabling them to provide a reliable source of protein for their families and build greater resilience against food insecurity.
The Toledo Department of Agriculture thanked its partners at UNICEF and the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and to all the hardworking women who are making this project a resounding success.
“Together, we are building healthier, stronger communities for today and for future generations,” the Ministry said.
