Unidentified decomposed body retrieved from Belize River

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the death of a man in western Belize.

 On Monday, April 28,  about 5:30 p.m., police were informed of a body floating in the Belize River. A team of officers searched the area; however, their efforts were unsuccessful. 

However, this morning, Tuesday, at about 5:45 a.m., a team of officers returned to the area where they discovered the body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition in the river. 

The body was retrieved from the river, and upon inspection, officers found a wallet containing a social security card. The body could not be positively identified due to the state of decomposition and awaits a post-mortem examination.
