By Zoila Palma: The University of Belize (UB) has renewed its agreement and partnership with the Ministry of Public Service, Governance, and Disaster Risk Management (MPSG&DR).
This renewed collaboration focuses on advancing professional development, strengthening the capacity of public service employees, and promoting the equal representation of both women’s and men’s perspectives.
The official agreement was signed on April 28, 2025, reaffirming a shared commitment to innovation, capacity building, and sustainable growth.
Through this partnership, UB will continue to offer tailored professional development courses and workshops via its Learning Management System, providing MPSG&DR employees with flexible online learning opportunities.
This initiative is designed to enhance employee competencies, expand access to quality education, and establish a sustainable model for future collaboration. It also aims to strengthen the visibility and reputation of both institutions.
UB noted that the partnership reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to delivering accessible education that empowers Belize’s workforce and supports national development. It also reinforces efforts to enhance public service capacity and serves as a model for innovative collaborations nationwide.
The agreement will remain in effect until April 28, 2028.
Throughout this period, both institutions will produce interim and final evaluation reports to monitor the program’s impact and ensure its long-term sustainability.
“As Belize’s national university, UB remains dedicated to providing accessible, affordable, high- quality education while promoting innovation and sustainable development. The MPSG&DR continues its commitment to delivering excellence in public service, governance, and disaster resilience across Belize,” U.B. said.
