By Zoila Palma:  Police have detained more than 60 suspected gang members in response to a recent surge in violence, including 3 murders in less than 48 hours.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero confirmed the detentions this morning, stating the arrests are part of heightened efforts to prevent further bloodshed.

However, he noted that authorities are not considering the implementation of a State of Emergency at this time.

The detainees are being held for questioning and could be released within 48 hours if no charges are filed.

According to Romero, investigators believe the murder of 31-year-old Kadeem Orosco earlier today is gang-related and potentially linked to the 2 murders on Monday.

Police operations continue across the city as they work to contain the escalating violence.
