By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After a weekend of postponed fixtures due to referee shortages, the BDFA 1st Division Football Championship resumed on Thursday, May 8, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex, where Kelly Street Bombers downed champions Survivors FC 2-0.
Both teams showed determination as they sought to gain an edge but Kelly Street gained the upper hand when Survivors’ Ali Flores netted in his own goal in the tenth minute. Kelly Street Bombers then secured the 2-0 win when Quince Briceño hit in the 39th minute, ensuring the three points.
In the other match of the evening, Tut Bay FC delivered a dominant performance, securing a commanding 6-0 victory over Hattieville United.
Meanwhile, the postponed fixture between Caesar Ridge FC and Reggae Boyz FC has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 14, as the BDFA works to get the championship back on track.
With the competition heating up, teams will be looking to capitalize on their upcoming matches as they push toward the championship title.
