By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Sagitun GIRLZ are officially through to the Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) final after a jaw-dropping performance against the Cayo Dreamers, clinching a 13-0 victory in the second leg and an astonishing 24-0 aggregate score.
The match, played on a went pitch at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence after a heavy rain, displayed the Sagitun GIRLZ superiority. By halftime, the GIRLZ had already built an 8-0 lead, leaving no room for doubt about their superiority on the field. Star forward Jolene Aranda was unstoppable, netting seven goals at the 2nd, 24th, 36th, 44th, 51st, and sealing the performance with strikes at the 89th and 90th minutes. Sidney Ruiz joined the scoresheet early with a 5th-minute goal, while Kenya Perez contributed two goals at the 31st and 59th minutes. The relentless attack also saw Sabrina Eiley (33rd), Elizabeth Ryan (71st), and Jasha Bernardez (88th) add to the tally.
Match officials, led by referee Rosalio Tush, ensured a smooth game.
With such an emphatic statement in the semifinals, Sagitun GIRLZ now set their sights on the championship matches against Napoles, who knocked out defending champions Jewel Fury on an away goal.
