By Breaking Belize News Staff: After spending 19 months behind bars, 24-year-old Tashane Williams of Tribuce Street, Belize City, is home tonight following his release on bail granted by a Senior Magistrate in Court #3.

Williams, represented by attorney Norman Rodriguez, was granted bail in the sum of $4,000 with two sureties of $2,000 each after completing a Case Management Conference (CMC) for charges of kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He successfully met bail conditions at the end of the court day yesterday.

As part of his release, Williams has been placed under strict conditions. He is required to observe a curfew and must not contact the virtual complainant or any prosecution witnesses, whether directly or via social media. He must also report to the Mahogany Street Police Station three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., starting today. He is also prohibited from committing any other offenses while out on bail.

Williams is also out on High Court bail for a separate and serious charge of rape of a child.

The firearm charges stem from an incident on October 24, 2023, when police, responding to the sound of a gunshot near Aloe Vera Street, pursued a shirtless man seen fleeing toward Haulover Creek. That man, later identified as Williams, was allegedly observed discarding a firearm into a grassy area. Police recovered a rusty Glock 17 9mm pistol loaded with 12 live rounds—7 Aguila brand and 5 Luger brand—and arrested Williams at the scene.

His trial for the firearm and ammunition charges is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2025.
