By Breaking Belize News Staff: The global economic jitters haven’t shaken Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler’s confidence in Belize’s tourism outlook.

In a recent interview following talks with the U.S. Embassy, Mahler acknowledged concerns surrounding economic uncertainty in the United States — Belize’s largest tourism market — but expressed optimism about the months ahead.

“We’ve had a strong start to the year,” Mahler said. “January and February were record-breaking. March saw a slight dip because Easter fell in April this year, but April bounced back strong with another record month.”

He shared that major airlines flying into Belize expect a rebound after June, signaling continued interest in travel to the country.

Mahler also emphasized Belize’s push to expand into new markets. “We’re focusing on the Mexican, Canadian, and South American markets, and we’re actively working on new airlift contracts,” he said. With more carriers expected to enter the Belize market by year’s end, the Ministry sees opportunity in diversifying its visitor base.

Despite a cautious global backdrop, Belize is betting on connectivity, market flexibility, and its growing appeal to sustain its tourism momentum through 2025.
