Belize Music Festival pauses for 2025, but plans for bigger comeback already underway

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Belize International Music and Food Festival (BIMFF) will not take place in 2025, a decision that may impact tourism numbers this summer. But according to Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler, the break is temporary — and necessary.

Citing unpredictable weather over the past three years, Mahler explained that organizers are using this time to invest in infrastructure and reposition the event for long-term success. “We will build out of the stadium in San Pedro, Saca Chispa field, so we can have that event in a safer environment where the elements can’t affect the performances and the fun people can have,” Mahler said.

He confirmed that the festival will remain in San Pedro, noting the town’s adequate room stock and infrastructure. Designs for the new venue are being finalized, with support from the area representative and town council.

Despite the hiatus, Mahler emphasized the economic impact of the event, which generated nearly $13 million last year. “Now that people can see the benefits for the country and the marketing that happens because of it, people see the work,” he said.
