By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL) continues to heat up following Belize City Thunderbolts’ commanding 101-81 victory over EZ Investments Dangriga Dream Ballers on Friday night. Now, the attention shifts to Cayo, where the Western Ballaz face the Belmopan Capital City Kings in the Mayan Conference at Sacred Heart College Auditorium at 8:00 pm Saturday night.

Basketball has thrived in Cayo over the past few years, with the Western Ballaz leading the charge as one of Belize’s premier programs. With that reputation on the line, they will look to start their BPBL campaign with a strong statement. Their opponents, the Capital City Kings, aim to disrupt their momentum and claim their first BPBL win.

As fans in Cayo gear up for the Saturday night’s contest, basketball excitement is spreading across the country. In Corozal, the Cerros Suns will host San Pedro Tiger Sharks at 8:00 pm, marking the long-awaited return of top-tier basketball to the northern town after 13 years.
