By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize’s diplomatic ties with Ireland took a step forward today as Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca received H.E. Ruari de Burca, the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Belize.

Ambassador de Burca formally presented copies of his letters of credence during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belize City. The meeting highlighted the strong and enduring partnership between the two countries, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to shared democratic values and continued cooperation on global and bilateral issues.

According to the Ministry, the visit underscored mutual goals of strengthening ties in areas such as trade, sustainable development, education, and diplomacy. Ireland and Belize have long maintained a respectful and cooperative relationship, and today’s presentation marked a renewed opportunity to expand on those foundations.

The ceremonial moment was captured at the Laing Building, the official seat of the Ministry, with the flags of both nations prominently displayed.

Minister Fonseca expressed Belize’s appreciation for Ireland’s engagement in the region, while Ambassador de Burca acknowledged the importance of Belize as a regional partner in the Caribbean and Central America.
