International News: Mexican forces kill 12, arrest 9 in cartel raid

By Zoila Palma: Mexican security forces killed 12 suspected cartel members and arrested 9 in a Navy-led raid Saturday in Huitzontla, Michoacán, officials said.

Security Minister Omar Harfuch confirmed three Navy personnel were injured during the operation, which targeted alleged members of a criminal group linked to homicide, extortion, and kidnapping.

Authorities said the group is tied to maritime drug trafficking. Weapons and tactical gear were seized at the scene, Reuters report.

Local media identified the suspects as part of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, recently labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S.
