With creativity, teamwork, and dedication, the students transformed their school garden into a model of agricultural innovation.
Other primary schools also demonstrated outstanding efforts, embracing sustainable farming practices and proving that agricultural education can thrive in Belize. San Antonio Government School (2nd place, Corozal District), Sandy Creek Academy (3rd place, Stann Creek District), Chan Chen Government School (4th place, Corozal District), and Bullet Tree Seventh Day Adventist School (5th place, Cayo District) all secured top spots in this year’s competition.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) stated that a total of 30 schools competed in this year’s event, displaying impressive gardening skills and enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture. In addition to the primary school category, high schools also participated, with Belize High School of Agriculture emerging as the 1st place winner in their division.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by schools across the country.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to all 30 participating schools for their hard work and commitment to agricultural education. Special thanks go out to the students, teachers, and parents whose teamwork and enthusiasm brought each garden to life,” MAFSE said.
“We also recognize and thank our dedicated judges and extension officers across the country for their invaluable support and contribution to the successful execution of this national event. As we close this year’s competition, we look forward to an even greater School Garden Competition in 2026. Let us continue nurturing young minds through agriculture and growing a greener Belize together.”
The winners will be officially honoured at the Opening Ceremony of the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) on May 30th, 2025.
