By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Greg ‘Bullet’ Lovell of Team Lovell emerged victorious in the 9th annual Chief’s Birthday Masters Race, hosted by the Weekend Warriors Cycling Club and the Cycling Federation of Belize. The competition, held on Sunday morning, followed a rigorous route along the Philip Goldson Highway and Burrell Boom Road, from Belize City to Hattieville and back, before concluding at San Cas Plaza.

Lovell, alongside Kent Gabourel and Brandon Cattouse, broke away from the main peloton after passing the halfway mark at the Hattieville roundabout. The trio maintained a two-minute lead as they powered through Ladyville, with Lovell briefly attempting a solo breakaway. Cattouse and Gabourel, however, kept him in check.

The last 500 yards saw a fierce sprint—Gabourel took the initiative but was overtaken by Cattouse, only for Lovell to edge past him at the finish line.
