By Zoila Palma: Brian Keith Castillo, a 41-year-old education officer with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), died early Monday morning in a golf cart accident in San Pedro Town.
According to the San Pedro Sun, Castillo, who was on the island to referee a volleyball tournament, was found unresponsive around 4 a.m. on First Street in the San Pedrito area. He was transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital morgue.
Known for his dedication to education and passion for sports, Castillo previously taught at Edward P. Yorke High School and was remembered for his kindness and commitment to youth development.
MoEST and government officials extended condolences to his family. Authorities continue to investigate the accident, and motorists are urged to drive with caution, especially at night.
