By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes FC forward Krisean Lopez has been named the Most Valuable Player (Golden Ball) of the Playoffs after leading his team to championship glory in the 2024-2025 Closing Championship of the Premier League of Belize. Lopez played a decisive role in Verdes’ title-winning campaign, securing a hard-fought triumph over San Pedro Pirates FC in the finals.

Port Layola’s Latrell Middleton was honoured as the Most Valuable Player (Golden Ball) of the regular season.

Verdes FC’s championship victory also saw them edge Port Layola FC in the cumulative table, securing a coveted spot to represent Belize in the Concacaf Central American Cup.

Port Layola FC, after an impressive regular season and first-place finish, were eliminated in the semifinals by San Pedro Pirates, denying them a chance to compete for the ultimate prize. However, their individual performances throughout the season ensured their players were well-recognized in the league’s top awards.

Lopez’s contributions helped Verdes FC reclaim their status as Belizean champions. Now, they turn their focus toward making an impact on the international stage.

With the domestic season concluded, Verdes FC looks ahead to the Concacaf Central American Cup, where they will carry the Belizean flag and seek to elevate the nation’s football standing at the regional level.
