By Zoila Palma: The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) has announced a BZ$7.75 million investment to support conservation efforts across Belize.
Distributed over the next three years, the funding will aid 15 co-management agencies working in 28 protected areas under the Conservation Investment Strategy (CIS) 2.0.
“15 co- management organizations managing 28 protected areas will receive funding from $7.75M over 3 years under the Conservation Investment Strategy to continue their work of conservation of our natural resources, critical to the sustainability of our nation,” Prime Minister John Briceno said.
“We are not just protecting trees, fish and animals. We’re sustaining our lives and livelihoods. Conservation is a living reality,” he added.
PACT’s CIS program, launched in 2018, continues to drive strategic, long-term support for Belize’s natural heritage and communities.
