By Aaron Humes: The Belize Police Department and the wider community are mourning the death of Corporal Leroy Flowers, a dedicated officer with over thirty years of service. Flowers passed away on Saturday after suffering a stroke a few weeks earlier, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and integrity.
Flowers served as the personal security officer to former Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, who paid tribute to the late officer, describing him as a man who “served with distinction, integrity, and quiet strength.” Faber noted that Flowers was devoted to his duties as an officer and a gentle and dependable figure whose calming presence brought solace to those around him.
Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith shared the department’s grief during this difficult time, expressing heartfelt condolences to Flowers’ family and friends. “The department wishes to extend its sincere condolences on the passing of a very consummate police officer in the person of Corporal Leroy Flowers,” ASP Smith stated. “Mr. Flowers had been with the department for over thirty years and worked in specialized units. Even on his days off, he volunteered his services to the fire department, showcasing his dedication to public service.”
Smith emphasized that both the department and the nation have suffered a significant loss with the passing of Flowers. “We extend our sincere condolences to his family and to all those who loved and interacted with him,” she added.
