Cayo man shot at home

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a 41-year-old man injured in the Cayo District.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, police responded to a report on Carmen Street, Santa Elena Town. Upon arrival, they were informed that Alfonso Vargas Diaz had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh and was transported to the San Ignacio Hospital for medical treatment.

Initial investigations revealed that Diaz was working in his yard when two men rode up on a motorcycle, one of them pulled out a firearm and fired shots at him, causing the injury. Diaz was transported to the hospital where he was treated and later released.
