By Aaron Humes: This evening, Leader of the Opposition Tracey Taegar-Panton announced a UNITY Rally to take place on the morning of June 14, starting at 9:00 AM at the foothills of the Bel China Bridge, directly across from the PUMA Gas Station. The party’s National Party Council (NPC) meeting is scheduled to start down the street at party headquarters an hour later.

Taegar Panton invited UDP representatives, caretakers, party officials, and supporters to attend the rally, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and collective action. “It is time for our voices to be heard and for us to get our affairs in order,” Panton stated, underlining the necessity for a National Party Council (NPC) that represents all members of the party. She expressed concern over a lack of inclusivity in previous NPC meetings, calling on all bona fide members to participate in her event.

The rally coincides with Father’s Day weekend, and Panton further framed the gathering not only as a political event but also as a time for community celebration. “As we gather, let us not only honor the fathers among us but also reaffirm our commitment to a strong, united UDP that can effectively serve the interests of all Belizeans,” she added.

Panton evoked the oft-quoted words of the party’s founding leader, Philip Stanley Wilberforce Goldson: “The time to save our country is before we lose it.”

The rally is targeting to bring together party supporters from across the country, and Panton encouraged attendees to bring family, friends, and neighbors.

The NPC has listed ‘reinstatement of expelled members’ as an agenda item and it is expected that the process for accepting back these expelled members will be discussed. However, as Panton is not a member, according to the executive, her and other expelled members are not currently eligible to participate in the upcoming NPC meeting.
