2025 New Horizon Kevin Bernard Football Mundialito kicks off Sunday in Orange Walk

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 2025 New Horizon Football Mundialito, sponsored by Minister Kevin Emmanuel Bernard, is set to commence this Sunday, June 15, at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk. The tournament promises high-energy competition and fierce rivalries as young footballers take centerstage.

Minister Bernard will officially kick off the tournament on Sunday, marking the beginning of another exciting season of youth football action.

The defending champions, Trinidad’s USA, will begin their title defense against Black Wata’s Japan in the opening match at 1:00 p.m. Following that, San Estevan’s Italy will face off against Sandy Field’s Spain at 2:30 p.m., and the evening will conclude with Orange Walk Central’s Germany tackling Orange Walk Technical High School’s Netherlands at 4:00 p.m.

While seven teams will be competing this season, San Jose Palmar’s Sweden will be inactive this initial weekend.

Last year’s tournament saw Trinidad’s United States clinch victory after an intense final against San Estevan’s Italy, winning a 4-3 penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. Keizer Rodney, the tournament’s top scorer, netted for the United States, while Roosevelt Rodney kept Italy in contention. In the third-place match, Yo Creek’s Argentina secured a narrow 1-0 win over Palmar’s Portugal, thanks to a decisive strike by Edward Cowo.

At the end of the Mundialito, standout players were recognized: Bryce Lawrence as Regular Season MVP, Luke Mai as Finals MVP, Aldwin Dominguez as Best Goalkeeper, and Keizer Rodney as the 2024 Mundialito Top Goal Scorer.

Will Trinidad’s USA repeat their triumph, or will a new contender rise to claim the crown? The answers will start to unfold this Sunday in Orange Walk.
