By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belmopan FC has undergone another major ownership transition following its brief stint under the Cruz Gamez group, which rebranded the club as Belmopan United FC upon acquisition. Despite the formal name change, the team was publicly referred to simply as Belmopan FC throughout its sole campaign in the 2024-2025 Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Championship.
Formerly known as the Belmopan Bandits for many years, the franchise built a strong foundation as one of Belize’s most successful football clubs. However, struggles both on and off the pitch prompted a series of transformations, ultimately leading to the latest change in ownership.
The announcement, ahead of the 2025-2026 season, marks the second ownership shift in a short span, raising questions about the team’s future direction. While details about the new owners remain undisclosed, the transition signals yet another pivotal moment for the Belmopan club.
In a statement released by the team, Belmopan FC emphasized its commitment to revitalizing the squad, strengthening ties with the local community, and fostering a culture of excellence on and off the pitch. The announcement highlighted a renewed vision, fresh energy, and a dedication to transparency as the club prepares for the next phase of competition.
With uncertainty looming, fans eagerly await further updates from team leadership regarding its strategy and ambitions moving forward. Despite the back-to-back ownership changes, Belmopan FC remains a fixture in Belizean football, and supporters will be watching closely to see how the new management shapes the club’s path.
