Cellphone video captures Area Rep Ramiro Ramirez in heated San Victor clash

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Corozal Southwest Area Representative Ramiro Ramirez is under public scrutiny after a video surfaced showing him in a heated verbal and near-physical altercation with villagers in San Victor. According to residents, Ramirez had previously made promises during the campaign period that 30 lots would be distributed. That didn’t happen, especially after his supported slate lost the June 8th village council elections.

The video shows Ramirez raising his voice, gesturing aggressively, and at one point, appearing to push a villager. The crowd of residents responds with loud boos and verbal backlash, forcing Ramirez to retreat after several minutes of confrontation.

Villagers are accusing the area rep of misleading them for political gain and say the confrontation was the result of simmering resentment over broken commitments.

It remains to be seen whether officials will launch an investigation into Ramirez’s conduct or if the land issue will be resolved fairly.
